The journey of the Initiative for a Better Africa (IFBA) is deeply rooted in the personal experiences of its founders, who grew up in the impoverished regions of Africa, particularly in Liberia. In a country where the education system has been severely impacted by civil unrest, lack of resources, and inadequate infrastructure, our parents worked tirelessly to provide us with the basic education needed to rise above our circumstances. Despite their efforts, the challenges of a broken system meant that opportunities were scarce.
Seeking a brighter future, we immigrated to the United States, where we encountered a vastly different educational landscape. The privilege of access to quality education in America allowed us to excel academically and build successful careers. This transformative experience fueled our passion to give back and create similar opportunities for the students we left behind in Liberia and West Africa.
Thus, IFBA was founded—driven by a commitment to empower the next generation of African leaders by removing financial barriers through scholarships, promoting literacy, and establishing state-of-the-art schools. Our mission is to ensure that students in Liberia and West Africa have the educational opportunities they need to realize their potential and make meaningful contributions to their communities. This journey from hardship to opportunity continues to inspire IFBA's vision, motivating us to expand our impact across the continent.
