Victor G. Sikeley, Founder, Chairman & CEO
Victor is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of the Initiative for a Better Africa (IFBA). Since launching IFBA on December 2, 2017, Victor has led the organization with a deep sense of purpose, drawing from his own lived experiences and a vision to create lasting, systemic change.
Victor holds a B.A., J.D., and M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas, where he developed a strong foundation in law, business, and public leadership. His professional background spans the nonprofit, government, and private sectors, with prior roles at the YMCA, the Metropolitan Council – Metro Transit in Minnesota, and most recently, Piper Sandler, where he gained deep experience in finance and investment banking. Victor’s leadership reflects a passion for service, a commitment to equity, and a belief in the transformative power of education and opportunity. Through IFBA, he continues to champion innovative solutions that uplift communities and inspire the next generation of African leaders.
Joseph Babalola, Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer
Joseph is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of the Initiative for a Better Africa (IFBA), where he plays a key role in overseeing operations, program implementation, and long-term strategic planning. Since the organization’s founding, Joseph has been instrumental in building systems that ensure IFBA’s work is both impactful and sustainable.
Joseph earned his B.A. from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, where he developed a strong foundation in community leadership and service. His professional background includes extensive experience in the healthcare field, having worked at the University of Minnesota Health – Fairview and in primary care, where he supported patient-centered services and organizational coordination. With a heart for service and a talent for operational excellence, Joseph brings deep commitment and steady leadership to IFBA’s mission of transforming lives and communities through education and opportunity.
Byron Seth, Vice President of International Affairs
Byron serves as the Vice President of International Affairs at the Initiative for a Better Africa (IFBA), where he oversees the organization’s global partnerships, international strategy, and cross-border collaboration efforts. A dedicated member of IFBA since 2018, Byron has played a vital role in strengthening the organization’s international presence and operational alignment.
He holds a B.A. from Bemidji State University and brings a strong background in supply chain and operations. Byron previously worked at General Mills and currently serves in a strategic role at Takeda, where he contributes to global operations and logistics. With a passion for global impact and a sharp eye for systems and strategy, Byron brings valuable expertise and insight to IFBA’s international work, helping to build partnerships that expand access and opportunity across Africa.
John Gaye, Executive Director, IFBA Liberia
John serves as the Executive Director of IFBA Liberia, overseeing all on-the-ground operations and program implementation across the country. For the past six years, he has played a central role in driving IFBA’s mission forward—managing partnerships, leading community engagement efforts, and ensuring that every initiative aligns with the organization’s vision and values.
John holds a Bachelor’s degree from Cuttington University in Liberia and brings a deep understanding of the local context, educational landscape, and community needs. His leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence have been critical to IFBA’s growth and impact in Liberia.
Christian E. Lawrence, Scholarship Program Coordinator, IFBA Liberia
Christian serves as the Scholarship Program Coordinator for IFBA Liberia, where he leads the implementation and management of IFBA’s growing scholarship program. Since joining the team in October, Christian has taken the lead in coordinating scholar engagement, monitoring academic performance, and ensuring smooth communication between schools, students, and the organization.
Christian holds a B.S. in Economics from the African Methodist Episcopal University and brings a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and passion for youth development to his role. His work is essential in helping IFBA provide consistent, meaningful support to its scholars across Liberia.
Tony Ricks, Marketing and Operations, IFBA Liberia
Tony serves in the Marketing and Operations division of IFBA Liberia, where he supports program logistics, outreach, and day-to-day coordination of IFBA’s work on the ground. Since joining the team in October, Tony has quickly become an integral part of the Liberia operations, bringing energy, organization, and a commitment to IFBA’s mission.
Tony holds a B.S. in Public Administration from Cuttington University. His professional background includes serving as a Presiding Officer with the National Elections Commission during Liberia’s presidential and general elections, instructing in data system management at Basic Technology World, and working as the Business Manager at Agape International High School. With a strong foundation in administration and a passion for youth empowerment, Tony brings valuable skills and a fresh perspective to the IFBA Liberia team.
